Ulmatec Thermal Solutions Secures Major Contract for Integrated Central Heating Systems

We are proud to announce that Ulmatec Thermal Solutions (Ulmatec Pyro AS) has been awarded a significant contract to supply our Integrated Central Heating System (ICHS) for six 7,500 DWT Multi-Purpose Cargo Vessels currently under construction at Mazagon Dock Ltd, Mumbai. These vessels are being built for Navi Merchants, a Danish shipowner and part of the Copenhagen Merchants Group. Equipment deliveries are scheduled to commence from Q3 2025.

This contract reinforces Ulmatec’s position as a trusted provider of advanced thermal solutions, delivering high-efficiency waste heat recovery systems to optimize fuel consumption and environmental performance onboard modern vessels.

Smart Waste Heat Recovery for Maximum Energy Efficiency

Ulmatec’s Integrated Central Heating System (ICHS) will play a crucial role in reducing fuel consumption by eliminating the need forfuel-fired boilers to generate interior heating. Instead, the system will continuously capture and repurpose waste heat from the vessel’s engine exhaustgases and cooling water.

Our proprietary Central Heating Management System will intelligently distribute this recovered energy to various onboard consumers, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of heat while minimizing energy waste.

By prioritizing free waste heat, the fully autonomous system not only improves fuel efficiency and vessel performance but also significantly reduces the vessel’s overall carbon footprint.

Project Overview

Mazagon Dock Ltd (MDL) has entered into a contract with Navi Merchants for the construction of six Multi-Purpose Vessels (MPVs), each with a 7,500 DWT capacity, with an option for four additional vessels.

• Production commenced in Q4 2024 with the plate-cutting ceremony attended by the CEO of Navi Merchants.
• The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in April 2026.
 
• These  ships will be designed for unrestricted global operations, capable of transporting a diverse range of cargo, including dry bulk, project cargo, containers, steel products, general cargo, forest products, and hazardous materials.
