Ulmatec Thermal Solutions is thrilled to announce that another important contract has been awarded for two new builds at Zamakona Yards (NB-806 and NB-807). The two Salmon Farm Forage Carrier vessels are designed by Kongsberg Maritime and will be owned and operated by Norwegian coastal cargo carrier Eidsvaag AS.

The new vessels will supply feed for up to 500 fish farms along the Norwegian coast and will feature Ulmatec Thermal Solutions' Integrated Central Heating System (ICHS). The vessels will be state-of-the-art with a high focus on minimizing carbon footprint during operation.

The ICHS from Ulmatec Thermal Solutions will contribute significantly to lowering fuel consumption and ensure optimum energy efficiency at any time by avoiding fuel consumption for interior heating purposes from fuel fired boilers:

In operation the system will continuously recover waste heat from the engine’s exhaust gases and cooling water. The waste heat will automatically be re-purposed and distributed by Ulmatec’s proprietary Central Heating Management System to various heat consumers onboard. Also, integrated in the system is a thermal battery, ensuring that (otherwise lost) waste heat is seamlessly preserved and available for consumption also when the vessel is laying quayside or operating on electric batteries.

The autonomous system will minimize fuel consumption from fuel fired boilers and always prioritize free waste heat for consumption, hence optimizing the vessels overall fuel performance and carbon footprint at any time.

We congratulate Eidsvaag AS, Kongsberg Maritime and Zamakona Yards with this forward-looking vessel design in terms of energy efficiency and are grateful for the trust granted us.
