Central Heating Systems
How does it work?
Ulmatec Waste Energy Management System (Ulmatec WEMSTM) is a closed loop pressurized central heating system for maritime installations based on thermal fluid (water or water/glycol) circulation. The system is automated and self-regulating and a functional analogy can be drawn to electric power management. The basic function is to recover and transfer surplus thermal energy from main and auxiliary engines and distribute to connected consumer systems. Additional heating (for back-up or port mode) can be generated from electric or fuel fired heaters, but recovered heat will always be prioritized, ensuring maximum energy efficiency. Function for thermal storage is available. The system is applicable to any ship type and is applicable for newbuilds or retrofit to existing vessels. The system is highly configurable and can easily be adapted to customer needs and applied as:
- Low Temperature (LT) distribution/heating system (40°C - 60°C)
- High Temperature (HT) distribution/heating system (60°C - 85°C)
- Integrated Hybrid system with both LT and HT outputs
Most common power plant configurations with single or twin-engine room systems can be accommodated. For each, single or multiple engine installations can be served.
